Obsessions du Jour

Ahh, a new season, new obsessions.
1. Vintage Bicycles
There is nothing more relaxing as taking a long bike ride around the city on a beautiful spring day, stopping at the occasional market and street fair. I would choose to do so on this Cynthia Rowley Beach Cruiser($900), designed especially for her 2008 runway show.

2. Floral Prints
Breathtaking on a sheer blouse, paired with a bright white short and flat sandals.

Blouse- Forever 21, $22
3. Abbey Road
One of the last Beatle's albums, a monumental album in my music collection.

4. Summer Scarves
Breezy, airy, lightly printed scarves wrapped loosely around the neck, can pull together any outfit with a wisp of fabric.

Abercrombie and Fitch, $39. 50
5. Arizona Iced Tea
The best treat after my summer school classes, perfectly sweet with a hint of lemon.

6. Jim Sturgess
What can I say, warm brown eyes and an adorable smile, along with acting skills that have carrie him through movies such as Across the Universe and 21.

7. Cotton Dresses
Perfect for the beach, or a lazy afternoon. They can be dressed up with elaborate braided necklines, or just a simple cut neckline. I have to admit, I have an obsession with Splendid dresses. They are so comfortable and cute and easy.

8. Chelsea Handler
By far the funniest, wittiest, most sarcastic women on TV, or at least E! She and her little nugget assistant Chuy make my night a thousand times better with their skits and jokes and destruction of celebrities.

9. Brightly Colored Plastic Wayfarers
If you care to look back, you’ll remember that last summer a milky tidal wave of white sunglasses crashed upon our shores. Well this year that pallor is going to be replaced with nearly neon and brazenly bright frames in shades of corn yellow, mango, and ultramarine.

Fred Flare, $10

10. Tattered Denim Cutoffs
These are tricky, because if paired with the wrong top you will look cheap, or trying to hard. I pair these True Religion jean shorts($175), with either a simple white shirt and a faux leather bomber and wayfarers, or a flowy blouse, tucked in.

** just realized how messy the words and pictures are and I am unaware of how to organize this mess. think of it as a puzzle! piece together the words and pictures!

Who Shined at the Oscars 2008?

Ah, the Oscars. A night of cheers, tears, and most importantly, couture. Some of my personal favorites this year were the ravishing red gowns of Heidi Klum, Katherine Heigl, and Anne Hathaway. Heidi Klum looked like a queen, with the regal red, draping train, and stiff collar. She seemed almost like the fashionable, beautiful younger sister of the Queen of Hearts. Katharine Heigl looked ravishing in a one shouldered Escada gown. Her deep red lipstick was very '50s glamourous, and she looked beautiful, even though she looked heart wrenchingly nervous while presenting. Anne Hathaways off the shoulder Marchesa gown, with a draped neckline of red flowers was stunning, but don't trust my judgement; I could see a garbage bag dress, but if it is Marchesa, I love it. Keri Russell struck a demure pose on the red carpet. She was a beguiling beauty in a nude flowing gown. I was ecstatic to see another Marchesa gown, this one a deep plum color, and worn by the beautiful Jessica Alba. I was a bit wary of the feathers at the top, it looked a little like her gown was going to take flight at any moment. What I loved about this was that Ms. Alba decided not to flaunt her baby bump, rather to hide it under layers of fabric. Penelope Cruz definetly shined in a Chanel Haute Couture gown. She was stunning in her unique black strapless gown. Her simple jewelry and sleek hair added to her elegant allure. Amy Adams, Hollywoods newest It girl, channels an Old-Hollywood bombshell and is absolutely enchanting in her Proenza Schouler rich emerald-green strapless gown. Renee Zellweger sparkled and shined in a glittering strapless gown. Her gown was a high cut stunner that showed a little leg. Renee's new short 'do made her seem incredibly aware of herself, and almost nervous, though she had no reason to be in this sparkler. Last but not least, my favorite of the night, Best Actress, Ms. Marion Cotillard! Marion Cotillard stood out in her mermiad gown by Jean-Paul Gaultier, straight off the runway. Unlike anything seen at the Oscars, this gown
was covered in scaleesque material, with a mermaids tail bottom.

Prim Magazine

Watch out Vogue and Elle, there's a new fashion magazine in town. Actually, on the web! One of the most industrious and hard-working Teen Vogue forum members, santaHOhoHO, has come up with the idea for an online magazine, soon to be in print. The name is Prim, and for an inside look, look at the Prim Myspace page, www.myspace.com/thisisitmagazine. Watch out for it's debut date, April 1st, 2008. Another reason to check out Prim magazine: I'm a writer/maybe photographer for it!

I'M DROPPING OUT OF SCHOOL WHEN I'M 16.

I wish. But for serious right now, this has been one of the most stressful weeks of my life. To share my pain, read the following:
Monday- English test, Social Studies quiz, English research paper draft due, swim meet, dance, therapist
Tuesday- Math and Social Studies quiz, English essay due, swimming, dance
Wednesday- Social Studies quiz, handbells concert, dance, tutor
Thursday- Social Studies test, swim meet, dance
Friday- Science test, dance, and now I am babysitting two incredibly annoying boys and eating cookies
On the bright side, I went shopping today and bought a bunch of basics, and a few beautiful pieces. I will be posting these shortly because I finally found my camera charger!!
Loves,
Gabriela

Worst of the Worst Dressed

MR. BLACKWELL'S 48TH ANNUAL WORST-DRESSED WOMEN LIST

10.) Alison Arngrim: “Little Nellie of the prairie, looks like a 1940’s fashion editor for the Farmers Almanac.”

9.) Lindsay Lohan: "Lindsay the fashion frenzy strikes again! Lohan takes fashion to a new low."

8.) Jessica Simpson: "Forget the Cowboys. In prom queen screams, can it get any worse? She's a global fashion curse!"

7.) Avril Lavigne: "Gothic make-up courtesy the mad spatula-Fashions provided by.. The house of Dracula!"

6.) Eva Green: "Stuck in neon nightmares not fit for the sane. Fashion this loud could give Bond a migraine! A profusion of confusion from toes to nose!"

5.) Kelly Clarkson: "Her heavenly voice soars above the rest... but those belly-baring bombs are hellish at best! She may be the queen of 'Pro-Active' – but that wardrobe looks downright radioactive!"

4.) Fergie: "Another style-free 'Fergie' in fashion's hall of shame? Yes, when it comes to couture chaos, guess it's all in a name!"

3.) Mary Kate Olsen: "YIKES! In layers of cut-rate kitsch, Mary Kate's look is hard to explain... she resembles a tattered toothpick-trapped in a hurricane!"

2.) Amy Winehouse: "Exploding beehives above…tacky polka-dots below... she's part 50's car-hop horror."

1.) Victoria Beckham: "Forget the fashion spice - wearing a skirt would suffice! In one skinny-mini monstrosity after another, pouty posh can really wreck-em."

Hope to God that 2008 is a year of elegance and class.

A Symphony of Sequins!

When Serena first wore this Nanette Lepore 'Symphony' Sequin Cardigan on Gossip Girl, my immediate thought was, "Sequins in the daytime?!" But as the the scene went on, and she kept wearing the sweater, it grew on me. The sequins are so eye-catching, and it looks so cozy. This sweater could most definetly brighten up a boring jeans and flats day.

Ginourmous Bow Headband That I Want

I love this headband. Love, love, love, love. It's by Valentino and, apparently, unfindable. After searching every website ever, zip. On another note, the way Blair paired it with her preppy and sophisticated blazer, she showed how this headband can look fun and flirty, but it can also look smart, and perfect for school and such, which is where Blair is sporting this look.

Frye Up These Boots and Serve 'Em Up to Me

Frye Paige Tall Riding Boot

These are one of those Frye styles that you get and love, and they get older and older and you love them even more. I can picture wearing these with skinnies, and this swing coat I have and love. And at the completely reasonable(yeah, right)price of $348, everyone can be wearing these come next fall! Looks like I'm just going to have to keep saving my pennies.

Pushing Daisies: Chuck's Wardrobe

Pushing Daisie's Chuck is a huge reason that it is my favorite show. Besides all of the witty banter and piemaking, her 50s style dresses, scarves, sunglasses and all around style is fantastic. I love the way she accesorizes a la Greta Garbo, and the patterns of her dresses and silouhettes(sp?) of her dresses.

L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers

I love Gwen Stefani's brands, L.A.M.B. and Harajuku Lovers. I just got a kickassss pair of Harajuku Lovers Converses. They are so adorablllyy cute. Pictures to follow.

Tata for now!

GUITAR HERO

I got a Wii for Christmas, along with GUITAR HERO III. This game is life. When I first started playing, I failed the easiest song on easy. I have played aybe 4 hours each day from Christmas and can now do almost all the songs on hard. If you haven't ever played this game, I insist that you must go to someone you knows house who has it and play until they kick you out.
Have fun!

Two Girls Breaking Free

http://quirkychic-nora.blogspot.com/
I am joining up with my friend. We are both trying to leave our boring old styles and join the fashion ranks. On her blog she has a list of some of the things we are going to do to help us. Comments on our outfits etc. are very much appreciated.

Actual Sequin Shoes!!!!!!!!

Converses are perfect, and will never go out of style. I just found these sequin ones which I cannot get over.

The New (Fashion) Me

Up until now, my fashion sense has been a little off. I was never an "aberzombie", but I have always dressed shyly, plain and simple. Jeans, flats, simple shirts and cardigans. I have always wanted to "break out", and wear crazy, seriously fashion clothes like some of the outfits the girls post on the Teen Vogue forums. I am going to use this blog as an outlet. I am going to post my outfuts, good and bad and hopefully recieve feedback. I hope it will help show me how I have changed from when I had started this blog, and to how I dress now. I mean in the future. Or whatever.
Appreciate the help!!
